Florida’s Lake Mary.In Seminole County, classes begin on August 11. Superintendent Serita D. Beamon provided an update on the public school district’s current situation and a preview of the next school year on Monday.
The State of Our Schools event was held at a Lake Mary luncheon with community and business leaders.

Last academic year, Seminole County was once again rated as an A school system.According to a news release from the district, SCPS was ranked first among Central Florida districts and tenth overall among Florida’s 67 districts.
According to the district’s school grade summary, no public school received a D or an F, and none has since 2019.
Seminole County voters adopted a one-cent infrastructure sales tax last year, with a portion of the proceeds going toward school construction, repairs, and renovations.
However, Seminole County, like other Central Florida districts, is experiencing a decline in enrollment. Budget issues are being caused by that as well as a modification to the state’s reimbursement formula.
