According to a criminal complaint, Shane Daley, 40, is accused of making several calls to Thompson’s family member following the shooting, defending the murder and claiming that the victim deserved to die similarly.

The arraignment of Daley, who lives in Galway, New York, a small town north of Albany, was set for Wednesday afternoon. Online federal court records did not immediately provide information on whether Daley had legal representation.

Acting United States Attorney John A. Sarcone said in a statement that Brian Thompson was shot and killed in midtown Manhattan. As said, Daley enthusiastically embraced this tragedy and did everything in his power to make the Thompson family’s agony even worse.

In December, Thompson was shot dead outside a New York City hotel by a guy who, according to the prosecution, was upset over what he perceived as corporate greed. Luigi Mangione, the suspect, entered a not guilty plea.
