SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. The Florida Highway Patrol has charged a husband and wife in connection with the hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a bicycle in Seminole County on Saturday night.
According to troopers, the collision occurred on U.S. Highway 17-92, south of Spartan Drive, at approximately 9:46 p.m.
A vehicle entered the northbound lanes of 17-92 from State Road 414, entered the outside lane, and struck a 25-year-old Winter Springs man who was riding north in a designated bicycle lane between the outside travel lane and the right turn lane, according to an FHP crash report.

At the scene, the cyclist was declared dead.
According to authorities, the car fled the site of the crash and headed north on 17-92.
Troops found a 2016 BMW X6 the next day, which they think is the suspect’s car.

Christopher Canet, 37, and his wife, Belkis Rodriguez, 39, were taken into custody and sent to the Seminole County prison, the FHP said on Wednesday.
According to troopers, Rodriguez and Canet are charged with accessory after the fact and leaving the scene of a crash involving death, respectively.
Their arrest’s circumstances have not been made public.
According to troopers, the criminal investigation into the situation is still ongoing.
