Tyran Evans, a three-star wide receiver prospect, joined the Hurricanes on Wednesday, continuing their explosive week of recruiting arrivals.
Evans, a native of Cornelius, North Carolina, turned down scholarships from Tennessee and NC State in favor of Miami. On social media, he made his pledge public.
Evans is ranked as the 2026 class’s No. 507 player and No. 82 wide receiver. Evans renounced his June 18 commitment to Tennessee, where he had previously been pledged.
With 36 catches for a team-high 980 yards and 14 touchdowns last season, Evans—who is roughly 6 feet 4 and 200 pounds—helped Hough High advance to the postseason.
According to a UM source who spoke to the Sun Sentinel, Miami was drawn to Evans because of his large body, route-running prowess, and great upside potential. His work ethic and body control really amazed the team.
Along with four-star California prospect Vance Spafford, Evans is the second wide receiver to join the Hurricanes class this week. These two receivers are presently enrolled in UM’s class.
Evans’ inclusion in the 2026 class moves Miami up in the 247Sports class rankings, surpassing Clemson. UM is currently ranked first in the ACC and sixth in the US.
