Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away

Disney’s newest parade marks a milestone in nighttime entertainment, featuring cutting-edge technology in a 10-float lineup that runs a reversed route.
This level of detail allows for vivid storytelling that honors the nostalgia of past electrical parades while incorporating modern video technology and innovative lighting.

“We’re really able to control every single pixel that you see on every single float, which is a real milestone for us,” said Katie Marks, producer for Disney Starlight with Disney Live Entertainment.

When you look back at the technology from Main Electrical Parade or from SpectroMagic, we didn’t have as much control over every single light.
”
Starlight showcases both classic and contemporary characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios and Disney Pixar films. Fans will also meet a new original character named Whimsy, a playful figure inspired by the idea of a magical train fueled by the Blue Fairy and starlight magic.
The parade showcases advancements in performer and character costumes, as the team can also control pixels on the costumes. The costumes are also lighter and more comfortable for performers.
Unlike previous parades, Starlight runs a reverse course, starting on Main Street, U.S.A., and ending in Frontierland. This change is designed to improve crowd flow at the end of the night.
“We designed this parade so there is no backseat,” show director Tara Anderson explained, emphasizing that every spot along the route offers a breathtaking view.
For those seeking a traditional experience, the top of Main Street near the castle remains a favorite vantage point.
Music also plays a key role in the Starlight experience, with an original theme composed for the parade.
Know before you go
Starlight will have two showings, 9 p.m. and 11 p.m., on a nightly basis, except for special ticketed events.
Due to anticipated high demand, for a limited time, Disney Annual Passholders visiting Magic Kingdom are required to have a theme park reservation at any time of day, including after 2 p.m.
