MILWAUKEEOn Monday night, the Milwaukee Brewers became the first Major League Baseball team to win ten or more games in a row since 2019. But the larger picture tempers any enthusiasm for that specific achievement.
The Brewers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-1, extending their winning streak to 10 games. With Monday’s victory, Milwaukee joins the Houston Astros (2019 and 1969), Los Angeles Dodgers (2017), Toronto Blue Jays (2015), Atlanta Braves (2013), St. Louis Cardinals (2001), Pittsburgh Pirates (1978), Kansas City Royals (1977), and New York Mets (1969) as the only teams with two consecutive double-digit win streaks since MLB’s 1968 expansion, according to MLB.com. Milwaukee had already won 11 straight earlier in the season.

Brewers slugger Christian Yelich stated, “To be honest, no one is interested in what we have done over the past month.” Everything is fantastic, but we have more important objectives than winning 74 games or anything else. That’s fantastic, but going into the season, that wasn’t really our objective. Our goals are greater than that.
Milwaukee’s four-run third inning was capped by Yelich’s home run, which ended a one-all deadlock.
