Bicyclist dead after hit-and-run in Seminole County

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a hit-and-run accident in Seminole County on Saturday night claimed the life of a 25-year-old biker.

According to FHP, an unidentified car was heading north on US Highway 17-92 south of Spartan Drive at around 9:46 p.m. Between the right turn lane and the outside traffic lane on US Highway 17-92, the cyclist was riding north in a designated bicycle lane.

According to FHP, a witness said that the car crossed State Road 414 and entered the northbound lanes of US Highway 17-92. The car moved into the outer lane and into the cyclist’s path.

According to FHP, the cyclist was struck by the front of the car as a result. The car left the scene of the crash and headed north on US Highway 17-92. On the spot, the cyclist was declared dead.

According to FHP, investigators think the automobile may be a white BMW SUV with damage to the front end, including a shattered headlight, hood and undercarriage damage, and potentially a damaged windshield.
