Dolphins’ Wright week-to-week, per McDaniel; Sanders should be ready for Week 1

GARDENS IN MIAMI Following the Miami Dolphins’ season finale on Saturday, coach Mike McDaniel stated that Jaylen Wright, the team’s second-year running back, is regarded as week-to-week due to an ongoing injury.

Wright will continue to be assessed, according to McDaniel, as the team considers various alternatives for dealing with the condition.

Wright left the Jacksonville Jaguars’ joint practice early on Thursday, limping with a trainer to the indoor practice area before heading to the team’s medical facility next to the practice field for more assessment.

Prior to the preseason, Wright was thought to be the Dolphins’ number two running back, but rookie Ollie Gordon II, who started and finished with 43 yards on eight attempts on Saturday, is putting pressure on him.

Jason Sanders, the kicker for the Dolphins, was spotted entering the locker room with a trainer early in Saturday’s game after failing to kick in the preseason finale.

However, McDaniel stated that Sanders’ unexplained injury shouldn’t prevent him from playing in the team’s first game.

According to McDaniel, he doesn’t seem worried about Week 1. I said, “We need the 2-point conversion work,” as he was announcing that he would kick extra points.

He wasn’t too worried for Week 1, but we’ll see when he shows up.

Running back De Von Achane has not experienced any setbacks with his calf injury, according to McDaniel, and is anticipated to be ready for the season opener on September 7 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Towards the close of Thursday’s joint practice with the Jaguars, Dolphins linebacker Jordyn Brooks experienced a momentary injury scare. He wasn’t allowed to play on Saturday while he warmed up.

According to McDaniel, he was upset with me, but he had a small ailment that I didn’t think was worth him playing, unlike all the other guys who were sort of recovering from.

He would never have allowed me to do it in a regular-season game. His ability to see the big picture made me proud.

McDaniel stated that it was purposeful to have tight end Darren Waller go through a pattern of getting ready to play without exposing him to game action, as Waller warmed up before the game but did not play.

Despite not participating in any practice exercises following his activation from the physically-unable-to-perform list on Wednesday, the Dolphins coach stated that Waller has not had any setbacks as he moves through his training.

It’s possible that Dolphins offensive lineman Liam Eichenberg may start the season on the PUP list, which would prevent him from playing for at least the first four weeks of the regular season.

“I don’t see him coming back right away,” McDaniel stated. I don’t think he will stay for the entire season.
