When traveling on the largest cruise ship in the world, passengers on Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas shouldn’t ever be bored.
The list of attractions, areas of interest, dining options, drinking establishments, shopping, and shows on the company’s second Icon-class ship is around 100. There are innumerable options to spend time unwinding, eating, drinking, or being entertained, such as taking a harnessed skywalk trip along the ocean’s edge or seeing the recently released Back to the Future: The Musical.
With space for 5,610 double-occupancy passengers and 2,350 crew members, the 248,663-gross-ton ship arrived at Port Canaveral earlier this month to embark on 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. Eight neighborhoods make up the enormous ship, each of which was planned with particular age groups and activities in mind.

With its own Central Park in the center, the enormous ship feels less congested and more like a floating metropolis at sea thanks to the numerous, unique locations where passengers can spend time.
Our goal has been to design genuinely distinctive areas and experiences that appeal to all age groups. “Icon class and Star of the Seas offer a lot of shared moments and memories,” Royal Caribbean International president and CEO Michael Bayley said. There is a different supper and show every single night. There is a new set of experiences every single day. The neighborhoods are a true manifestation of the entirety of all of that.
Here is what guests can anticipate on board, including luxurious dining options, relaxed pools, and exciting excursions.
Deck 16 offers entrance to Thrill Island, a town devoted solely to high-adrenaline activities. The FlowRider surf simulator, the Lost Dunes mini golf course, the Category 6 waterpark, and the Adrenaline Peak climbing wall are all located here.
With two tube slides, Storm Chasers (a pair of racing mat slides) and Pressure Drop (the first open freefall waterslide at sea), the waterslides are ideal for families. After a glass panel on the identical waterslide on the Star’s sister ship broke and injured a guest, the Frightening Bolt drop slide was closed while the media was on board.
With a ropes course and skywalk that hang visitors over the ocean, Crown’s Edge offers a quick but thrilling experience. While thrill-seekers will love this attraction, some may decide it’s not worth the trouble to get dressed and wait for just a few minutes.
Fans of water sports of all ages and abilities are sure to love the FlowRider surf simulator.
Many peaceful spots on Star of the Seas have pools at their heart. Chill Island, which is located on Decks 15, 16, and 17, is the focal point of several of the swimming areas.
This neighborhood, which has many hot tubs and other pools nestled away close, is centered around the Royal Bay Pool. The Hideaway, which features an infinity pool in the ship’s aft, is particularly appealing to adults. Enjoy a drink from the nearby Hideaway Bar while taking in the breathtaking views of the ocean. Refills can be obtained without ever leaving the pool thanks to pool waiters.
Families looking to swim together will enjoy Splashaway Bay and Water’s Edge, both located on Deck 7 in the Surfside area. Together, the locations support Royal’s goal of serving families while ensuring that there are areas reserved for adults to socialize.
The Overlook, located on Deck 14 forward on the ship, offers an interior area to enjoy the panoramic views and natural light of the glass-and-metal AquaDome, which is 82 feet tall and 164 feet wide.
With so many entertainment options on board its newest ship, Royal Caribbean takes great delight in its offerings. Back to the Future: The Musical is the lineup’s true star.
Along with a stage adaptation of the classic film including more campy comedy and explicit sequences, visitors can laugh and gasp in the Royal Theater. This show, which wouldn’t be complete without the DeLorean time machine, is most outstanding for its visual effects.
The Absolute Zero venue hosts the brand-new ice skating show Sol, which transports fans from Miami to California throughout the course of a typical American day. A stunning and exhilarating show is produced from beginning to end as skaters spin and dance on the ice in sequences that are accompanied by music.
Torque, which uses the pool underneath the AquaTheater and high dive platforms to amaze the audience, is even more inventive than the skating act. Water is creatively incorporated throughout the high-flying display, which is completed by aerialists.
There is plenty of evening entertainment available to guests throughout the ship in addition to the concerts.
Lou’s, a bar in the Central Park area, is a great place for jazz fans. Another popular feature is the dueling pianos on Deck 6, which are guaranteed to keep guests singing and laughing all night long.
The dining selections aboard Star have altered, but many of the offers will seem familiar to Icon of the Seas.
Sorrento’s Pizza, Basecamp, the Park Cafe, and Pearl Cafe, which serve breakfast and lunch pastries and sandwiches, have added flair to the complimentary choices. Mexican food by the pool can be found at El Loco Fresh, and Mediterranean, BBQ, and crepes can be found at the AquaDome Market on Deck 15.
Chops Grille, a steakhouse, Izumi Hibachi & Sushi, Hooked Seafood, and Giovanni’s Italian are examples of specialty dining establishments. The Lincoln Park Supper Club, a formal setting with seductive live music, elegant plates, and a very small seating capacity, is the most expensive and exclusive dining option.
With more than two dozen locations to get a drink on board, cruise guests won’t go hungry on the Star of the Seas.
From the Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade to The Lime and Coconut, which offers a variety of tropical drinks, each watering hole has its own distinct character.
Deck 16’s Swim & Tonic swim-up bar has already been a fan favorite, and because of the concept’s success, Royal guests will be able to find more of these establishments in its upcoming private locations in the Bahamas and Mexico.
Another distinctive establishment in the AquaDome district is The Rye and Bean, which serves coffee and tea-infused cocktails.
To indulge in sweets with alternatives for spiked drinks, head to Deck 16’s Desserted Milkshake Bar.
The art collection on Star of the Seas is one of the ship’s most striking characteristics. The Pearl, an enormous art work that covers two decks and has 3,600 computer-driven kinetic tiles that dance to music, greets guests as soon as they go upon Deck 5.
Each landing on the ship’s staircases showcases a unique collection of artwork created by artists residing in the Caribbean. Additionally, the ship has a number of enormous sculptures and paintings that provide whimsical and enjoyable elements to all of the public areas. Together, these elements contribute to a vibrant and lively setting where visitors may enjoy their trip.
Onboard the Star of the Seas, guests can choose from a variety of contemporary rooms that are priced to fit any budget and are arranged by interior, exterior view, balcony, and suite.
With windows that swing open from the top to provide an outdoor space and more inside space when closed, several rooms have reinvented what a balcony is. There are balconies in other rooms.
Some of the ship’s inner balcony cabins and suites have views of Surfside or Central Park, but many of these have views of the ocean.
Inside the AquaDome at the front of the ship, guests can have a front-row seat to ocean views in the Panoramic Ocean View rooms. Many of the rooms and suites, such the Surfside Family Suites and the Family Infinite Ocean Balcony, are designed with families in mind.
Access to designated spaces at the top of the ship, such as the private Coastal Kitchen and The Grove sun deck, is available to any accommodation that is classified as a suite.
The Ultimate Family Townhouse is the most opulent and roomy choice available onboard; it has a dry slide and three floors. With only one such option on the ship, the lucky family booking this room also enjoys their own whirlpool and a game room.
With two bedrooms, a private Jacuzzi, a baby grand piano, and expansive views from the two-story windows, the two-story Royal Loft Suite is designed specifically for wealthy travelers.
