ORLANDO, FL.On Saturday, the Central Florida Fairgrounds will host the third annual Light Orlando Hunger Drive, which is anticipated to attract over 2,000 volunteers.
One million meals are anticipated to be packed during the one-day event for Central Florida families and individuals experiencing food insecurity.
The event was organized by Light Orlando, with support from the Cahand Foundation. Anyone who wants to help make a difference, regardless of age, is welcome to the event.
Hunger does not discriminate, according to Troy Wright, a Light Orlando program officer.
“It impacts working families, children, and the elderly across our region,” he said. This project provides an opportunity for the community to unite in a single day to provide genuine assistance to actual people.

Over a million meals were prepared by volunteers last year and distributed to more than 40 nonprofit and charitable groups in the area.
The same objective—one million meals in a single day—has been set for this year.
According to Rick Whitted, president and CEO of US Hunger, the need to combat hunger is greater than ever. It calls for the kind of dedication and teamwork that Light Orlando provides. We are honored to lend our support to this endeavor and its amazing team of volunteers.
There are two shifts for the event: 8:30 a.m. to noon and 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
All ages are welcome to volunteer, and they can sign up for one or both shifts.
