ORLANDO, FL.This weekend, a venerable pop culture convention group is beaming down to Orlando for its very first Star Trek convention.
On Saturday, August 23, and Sunday, August 24, Creation Entertainment will have a Trek to Orlando event at the Doubletree by Hilton, which is located across from Universal Orlando.

Although the long-running convention group has held Star Trek conferences across the nation since 1991, none have taken place in Orlando. They have previously hosted conventions for Supernatural and Vampire Diaries.
And that’s the most common thing I hear people say. “I think it’s unfortunate that we haven’t had a Star Trek convention in Orlando in a long time because there seem to be a lot of fans there,” Ryan Husk, who is co-hosting the event this weekend, said.
Creation’s regional conventions are typically more laid-back than major pop culture conventions like MegaCon Orlando, allowing attendees more opportunity to mingle with the celebrity guests and take in panels and other activities.
According to Husk, this makes the conferences feel more upbeat.
Attending a Star Trek convention would put you in a fantastic mood even if you’re not a fan. “You would be grinning,” Husk remarked. People would be giving you high fives and beaming at you, or they would be laughing with you.
This weekend, Creation is sending 20 famous people from all throughout the Star Trek universe to Orlando. The following are some of the attendees:
-
Anson Mount (Capt. Pike from Strange New Worlds )
-
Ethan Peck (Mr. Spock from Strange New Worlds )
-
Anthony Rapp (Lt. Stamets from Discovery )
-
Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine from Voyager and Picard )
-
Gates McFadden (Dr. Crusher from The Next Generation and Picard )
-
Connor Trinneer (Trip Tucker from Enterprise )
-
Cirroc Lofton (Jake Sisko from Deep Space Nine )
-
Nana Visitor (Kira Nerys from Deep Space Nine )
-
Tawny Newsome (Mariner from Lower Decks )
-
Eugene Cordero (Rutherford from Lower Decks )
This weekend, Casey Biggs, who portrayed Damar on Deep Space Nine, will also be at the performance.
Biggs says he loves regional shows because they allow him to spend more time with fans, and he’s been blown away by the convention scene, which has taken him all over the world since the series finished in 1999.
In addition to being grateful for the fans, I’m impressed by their commitment to this show. In general, Star Trek characters are much more committed to giving back to the community, charity, and society in general. According to Biggs, it’s a wonderful world to be a part of.
Along with posing for pictures and signing autographs with fans, Biggs will perform on stage with Jeffrey Combs and Vaughn Armstrong for Saturday Evening with the Rat Pack, which combines humor and lounge music from the 1950s.
On Friday night prior to the convention, actor Anthony Rapp, a successful Broadway star, will also host a concert.
The two-day event will feature discussion panels, a cosplay competition, trivia sessions, and more.
In order to continue holding the Star Trek conference in Florida in the future, creation officials are hoping for a sizable attendance this weekend.
According to Biggs, they will still hold Star Trek conventions in fifty years even though they won’t be hosting Friends or ER conferences. I believe it’s that significant to the zeitgeist of what fans and society are all about.
