Heat advisory in place again Sunday for Central Florida, and Monday could get worse

The National Weather Service issued another heat advisory for a large portion of Central Florida on Sunday, and conditions may become worse on Monday.

According to the Melbourne NWS, a heat advisory is in force for the greater Orlando, Daytona Beach, Space Coast, and Okeechobee regions from midday to seven o’clock.

Heat indices can reach 106 to 110 degrees when temperatures reach the mid to upper 90s and humidity levels are high. The NWS advised wearing light clothing, staying hydrated, and taking regular pauses in the shade.

More heat advisories are expected this week, according to the NWS, and a powerful ridge of high pressure across the southeast will keep rain chances significantly below normal through Monday.

With heat indices of 112-114 likely in the northern interior, including Orlando, Monday might be the worst due to near-extreme heat conditions.

In order to prevent heat illness and to recognize the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, residents and guests are urged to take the appropriate heat safety precautions. The NWS advised staying informed, hydrated, and cool.
