GARDENS IN MIAMI The South Florida Sun Sentinel has reported that the Miami Dolphins intend to sign Mike Hilton, a 31-year-old cornerback with seven years of experience, who played his last four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals.
NFL writer Jordan Schultz was the first to report on the transaction.
The Hilton acquisition was made the same day that Kader Kohou, a nickel/slot cornerback, appeared to have suffered a right leg injury during practice, further weakening a suspicious bunch.
Hilton has played more over 4,700 nickel/slot snaps in his career and is perhaps the best defensive back the Bengals have had in recent years.
Over the last four seasons, Hilton has been a key member of the Bengals, recording 739 (70 percent) snaps in 2024, 878 (80 percent) in 2023, 701 (77 percent) in 2022, and 803 (71 percent) in 2021.
The Dolphins added cornerback Cornell Armstrong, a 2018 draft pick, two days after they signed cornerback Jack Jones, who previously played for the New England Patriots, on the same day that Hilton was acquired.
Originally signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016 as an undrafted free agent out of Mississippi, Hilton (5′ 9′, 184 pounds) played with defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche (2019), former Dolphins Laremy Tunsil, and Miami’s 2016 first-round choice, left tackle Laremy Tunsil.
Hilton joined New England (2016), the Pittsburgh Steelers (2016–20), and finally the Bengals after being cut loose by the Jaguars.
