Person of interest ID’d after 70-year-old woman critically injured at South Daytona motel, police say

South Daytona, Florida.According to a press release, South Daytona police said they have identified a person of interest following the hospitalization of a battered 70-year-old woman on Friday for treatment of significant injuries.

When officers arrived to the Red Carpet Inn on South Ridgewood Avenue that morning, a 911 caller said that his fiancé had entered the room and fallen to the ground in a pool of blood, according to the release claims.

The woman was rushed to Halifax Health Medical Center in severe condition after investigators concluded that a battery had occurred, according to police. At the time of this report, no additional information has been released regarding the woman or the scene.

According to the announcement, South Daytona police received assistance in their investigation of the incident from the Volusia County Crime Scene Unit and staff from the local state attorney’s office. According to authorities, a person of interest has been located, and as of this writing, there is no public threat.
