COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — Martín Ojeda scored a goal and Pedro Gallese had his eighth shutout of the season to help

Orlando City

beat the Rapids 1-0 on Saturday night, Colorado’s third consecutive loss.

Gallese finished with two saves for

Orlando City

(8-4-6), which had lost back-to-back games following a 12-game unbeaten streak.

“We are very pleased with the result of the game,” Orlando City coach Oscar Pareja said. “We came with the intention to bounce back after our last two games and this was a game that we all declared it was a must-win, not just for the three points but also for our confidence. We needed to have the effort of the players, and this place was great; the altitude is not an easy task, and even after having four players that came from the FIFA international date, and we just had them the last two days, and we could see in the second half that we probably just had that load and energy. But our heart was good enough to win these three points, this game and we’re happy today.”

Ojeda gave Orlando a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute. On the counter-attack, Marco Pasalic flicked a low cross along the top of the penalty area to Ojeda for a

rolling shot

the bounced off the outstretched arm of diving goalkeeper Nico Hansen into the top-net.

The Rapids (6-8-4) outshot Orlando City 14-7.

Hansen finished with two saves for Colorado.

Orlando is 6-1-2 all time against the Rapids.

With the FIFA Club World Cup plus the Concacaf Gold Cup in progress, the Lions will return to action on June 25 at St. Louis.
