49ers trade for Chiefs receiver Skyy Moore, AP source says

SANTA CLARA, CA—On Wednesday, the San Francisco 49ers reached an agreement to sign Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Skyy Moore.

According to a source with knowledge of the transaction, the teams will exchange 2027 sixth- and seventh-round picks in exchange for Moore moving to San Francisco. Since the deal cannot be completed unless Moore passes a physical, the individual spoke on condition of anonymity.

Moore hasn’t done much in his first three seasons after being selected by Kansas City in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. In 36 games, he caught 43 passes for 494 yards and one touchdown. Due to a core muscle ailment, he did not catch a single pass during the previous season.

In the fourth quarter of Kansas City’s 38-35 victory over Philadelphia in the Super Bowl after the 2022 season, Moore did catch a touchdown pass.

Last Friday, Moore scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter of a preseason game against Seattle after returning an 88-yard punt. The 49ers have the second-longest active skid in the NFL after going 227 straight regular-season games without a punt return touchdown.

Healthy receivers were desperately needed by the Niners. While fellow starter Jauan Jennings has missed the most of training camp due to a calf injury, Brandon Aiyuk is recovering from severe knee surgery and is not anticipated to participate until at least Week 6.

On his radio broadcast on Wednesday, coach Kyle Shanahan stated that Demarcus Robinson, who entered a no contest plea to a misdemeanor DUI charge last month, faces a three-game suspension while his case is pending appeal.

Second-year pro Jacob Cowing is recovering from a hamstring injury, while rookie Jordan Watkins is sidelined due to a high ankle sprain. Cowing returned to practice last week after suffering a hamstring injury on the first day of training camp. Cowing missed practice on Wednesday after tweaking the injury on Tuesday.
